General Guidelines
Emergency Exit
In case of an emergency, promptly exit the studio using the designated emergency exit stairway. Additional fire escapes are located at both the front and rear of the building for quick evacuation.
Please refer to the posted studio map for all emergency exit locations and follow staff instructions at all times.
General Safety
All members and students acknowledge and assume the inherent risks of working with clay, equipment, and tools, and agree to take full responsibility for their personal safety while using the facilities.
If you are unfamiliar with any equipment, please ask staff for training before use. Any misuse that results in damage will be the responsibility of the user.
Dry sanding is prohibited. Only wet sanding is permitted, using wet grinding bats (available upon request).
First Aid
The first aid kit is located at the front desk.
For minor injuries, supplies may be used as needed. For serious medical emergencies, notify staff immediately for professional assistance.
Liability for Personal Property
All’Bout Clay is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings or artwork.
Storage & Shelves
General members receive 39”(W) x 18” (H) x 17” (D) of shelf space.
Store only your own materials on your shelf; projects may only be outside your shelf if actively in progress or waiting for firing.
Class shelves are reserved for current students only.
Code of Conduct
Please respect each other’s work and storage space. Do not move, touch, or handle projects that are not your own.
If you accidentally damage someone’s work, please leave a note and inform staff.
We have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or harmful behavior of any kind. Violations will result in immediate removal from the studio.
Cell Phones
Please keep phone calls brief inside the studio. For longer conversations, step outside to avoid disrupting others.
Clean-Up Policy
Members and students are expected to clean their workstations after use, including wheel, stool, splash pan, tools, and surrounding floor.
No sweeping—use wet sponges or mops to control dust.
Work left on communal tables or counters will be discarded, unless prior approval given.
Cancellations & Refunds
Classes & Workshops

Classes require a minimum of 5 students to run.
Processing Fee: All refunds for multi-week classes are subject to a $30 processing fee from Sawyer.
Refunds & Cancellations:
7+ days before first class: Full refund
Within 7 days of first class: 50% refund
Less than 72 hours before first class: Non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled
After Session Starts: No refunds or rescheduling once a session has begun (other than the one-time make-up option below).
Make-Up Classes:
Students enrolled in a multi-week session are allowed one make-up class per session, provided they notify us in advance.
Make-ups must take place within the same session and are subject to availability.
Open Studio Access: Multi-week students are welcome to use the studio during open studio hours for independent practice.
Missed Classes:
Missed classes are non-refundable; one make-up per semester may be offered if space allows.
One-Day Classes
Rescheduling requires 24-hour notice.
$10 rescheduling fee; $20 cancellation fee.
Memberships
Cancellations require 30 days’ written notice via email.
Memberships are non-transferable.
Memberships may be paused for $50/month, up to 2 times per year. Pauses longer than 2 months may result in termination.Members may not use the studio during a pause.
Open Studio and Firings
Open Studio
Open Studio is available daily via online booking. Current open studio hours:
Monday - Friday 5 PM - 10PM
Saturday 10 AM - 10PM
Sunday 10 AM - 10PM
Occasionally, the studio may close for private events or maintenance; members will be notified by email.
Clay, Glazes & Firing
House reclaim clay is included with membership and classes. Additional clay and specialty clays are available for purchase.
We are a cone 6 studio only. Outside clay and glazes must be approved by staff.
Do not alter or thin glazes. If you suspect an issue, ask a technician.
Most glazes are food-safe unless otherwise labeled. Slips and washes are not food-safe.
Work must be paid for before firing at $0.03 per cubic inch per firing.
All pieces must have firing slips; students must include identifying chips on greenware.
Improperly glazed work will be placed on separately for adjustments.
Damage to kiln shelves incurs a $40 replacement fee.
Firing turnaround: 2–3 weeks (standard) or 1 week (expedited, additional fee).
